I began my DVD collection in October of 1999.  It was the one good thing that came out of a traffic accident I was a victim of that past summer.  The compensation from the insurance for the damage to my car and myself paid for our first DVD player.  The first DVD I ever bought?  GHOST BUSTERS at Best Buy!  I had rented some DVDs before, and watched them via a laptop hook-up to a TV, however, this was the real deal!  Soon after, I purchased The Blair Witch Project at Suncoast Video.  Since then, many titles have come and gone from my collection, but it currently stands at over 540 titles!  My tastes are quite diverse from comedy to horror to action to science fiction to crime thrillers to a few westerns and beyond.

For me, it has to be widescreen!  No pan and scan garbage, anymore!  Also, the more special features the better!   Audio commentaries are usually my favorites especially when the participants are lively and passionate. John Carpenter and Kurt Russell have done some of the most entertaining commentaries I've ever heard.  Their commentary tracks on the DVDs for The Thing, Big Trouble in Little China, and Escape From New York are purely enjoyable.  Still, there are filmmakers who are simply intensely fascinating with the insight they offer in both commentaries and documentary interviews.   I hunger for the day Steven Spielberg starts doing commentaries.

Up until 2015, I did not own an HDTV, but in 2014, circumstances allowed me to purchase an older model Blu Ray player.  I so tired of missing out on exclusive content on the HD format such as commentaries, extended director's cuts, and more.  So, my collection has gradually been built up with some respectable titles with a lot of juicy content, and the focus on buying Blu-Rays has increased since purchasing an Insgnia Smart HDTV in August, 2015.  I do still own several VHS tapes.  Most prominently are multiple releases for the original Star Wars trilogy.  My overall Star Wars VHS & DVD collection takes some long winded explaining, but simply said, I grew up on those films.  They inspired me, and remain a part of my creativity. Regardless, this is a complete list of my entire DVD and expanding Blu-Ray collection to showcase my love of filmed entertainment.
